![]() Note that one needs a working internet connection for YubiKey's OTP feature to work. This way, keys generated from your re-configured YubiKey can now be validated. One can, using the YubiKey Personalization Tool, upload a key configuration to the YubiKey itself and also to the OTP validation server. ![]() IF ONE MESSES WITH the OTP configuration of a YubiKey, the OTP keys generated are no longer recognized by the OTP validation server! In other words, OTP stops working.Īccording to YubiCo, there is no way (for a user, at least) to do a "factory reset" of a YubiKey to restore the original OTP functionality, but there is another solution. ![]() The YubiKey's factory-configured OTP generates keys that are recognizable by the OTP validation server. (YubiKey's FIDO2 support, used for a Vanguard web page login, still worked as that does not use the OTP feature.)Ī new, randomly generated, OTP key needs to be validated, real-time, whenever the OTP feature is used. It could no longer be used, for example, to protect login to LastPass. This broke its OTP (One Time Pad) feature. Security, encryption, and the like are especially tempting so of course I had to mess with my YubiKey. I am a fiddler when it comes to technical stuff.
